Romantic Québec City
It’s true. I admit it. I love my Québec City. I was born here, it’s my hometown, and it’s where I launched my career as a wedding planner in the early 2000s. My very first wedding was at the legendary Château Frontenac for a couple from New York who were charmed by North America’s most European city. These are some of the many reasons I have a fond spot for Québec City and its castle.
I may live here, but the beauty of this 400-year-old city, with its laneways, its architecture, its history, still amazes me. I love the ambiance here and how people smile as they pass each other on the sidewalk. I am forever surprised by the restaurants, festivals and performances of all kinds that it has to offer. And some day, just maybe, will I be able to add the return of the Nordiques hockey team to this list?! That’s right: you heard just a wee bit of healthy competition there. Or shall we call it “pride”?
This city is truly great. But don’t take my word for it. According to Condé Nast Traveler, Québec is one of the 30 most beautiful cities in the WORLD. Yes, you read that right: in the world! For more than 10 years now, Québec City has also been among the 10 best cities to visit in North America, according to Travel + Leisure magazine. In the January 2012 edition, they wrote “You don’t have to dig very deep to become convinced that Québec City is the most romantic city in North America.”
And as a wedding planner, I know a thing or two about romance. To prove it, here are a few photos of a wedding I planned here—in one of the 30 most beautiful, 10 best to visit and THE most romantic city in North America!
I’d like to thank Andrea and Pasha, a beautiful couple from Toronto whose big day I had the pleasure of organizing. And thank you, too, to the most talented Mimmo for these gorgeous photos!
